A Modern Wildflower Wedding - Shoot at The Hidden Oak

Updated: Jan 21

blog about a wedding shoot at The Hidden Oak

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of collaborating with The Hidden Oak, a stunning, still relatively new wedding venue tucked away in a stunning setting within Stockton-on-Tees that you would never know was there! Having worked at this venue earlier in the season, I knew its breathtaking grounds and serene atmosphere would be the perfect setting to showcase how my decor can enhance such a unique space.

Celebrating Joy, Individuality, and Sustainability at The Hidden Oak

The concept behind the shoot was a celebration of individuality and joy, encouraging couples to embrace their unique love stories without feeling tied down by external expectations or Pinterest-perfect trends. I wanted to remind couples that their wedding day should reflect them – their style, their love, and their happiness.

Sustainable Florals

A core focus of the shoot was sustainability, a value close to my heart. All the floral displays, from the concrete urns to the head table flower bar and centrepieces, were created using preserved foliage, dried flowers, and solar flowers. For those unfamiliar, solar flowers are crafted from the root of a plant, transformed into delicate, petal-like shapes that mimic real flowers and can last for years. Not only do these arrangements look absolutely stunning, but they’re also designed to be reused. In fact, every piece has since been safely stored, ready to bring beauty to future events.

Adding a unique touch, Peacock and Fern Weddings provided eco-friendly stationery made from plantable wildflower seed paper. This thoughtful detail means guests can take home a piece of the wedding and grow their own floral memories – how special is that?!

The Custom Dress

The model’s bridal look was nothing short of breathtaking, thanks to the combined talents of an incredible team of local suppliers. Megan Jayne Bridal Couture designed a one-of-a-kind gown that perfectly embodied spring and happiness. The semi-sheer bodice featured intricately embroidered floral tulle, complemented by a romantic lace-up corset back. Detachable off-shoulder straps and sheer sleeves added versatility, while the separate skirt – with its daring thigh-high split and extra-long train – flowed elegantly with a mix of satin crepe and silk chiffon.

The hair was styled into a sleek, simple updo, perfectly complementing the elegance of the gown. This timeless style ensured the intricate dress details took centre stage, while the model’s glowing, soft, and natural makeup enhanced her beauty and gave her a flawless, photography-ready finish.

Bringing It All Together

This shoot wouldn’t have been possible without the talented collaboration of local wedding suppliers who brought their creativity and expertise to the table. From the plantable stationery to the stunning gown and everyone's favourite - Pippa the prosecco pony, every detail came together to create a vision of modern romance. This shoot serves as a testament to how thoughtful, sustainable choices can create a wedding day that’s not only beautiful but also deeply personal and meaningful.

Whether you’re dreaming of a spring-inspired celebration, want to embrace sustainable wedding decor, or simply need a bit of inspiration, I hope this shoot reminds you to focus on what truly matters: your love story and the joy of celebrating it in your own unique way.
